Cold case catches up to Kampong Speu teen
A 19-year-old man was detained on Sunday on suspicion of injuring a villager more than a year ago in Kampong Speu’s Kong Pisei district. Police said the case dates back to October 2010, when the suspect wounded the man in the head. The provincial court issued an arrest warrant last year after the victim’s family complained to the police. The man was arrested only after returning home from his hideout in another province. Moto thief thwarted by stroke of bad luck
A man, 23, and his girlfriend were apprehended in Phnom Penh’s Chamkamon district on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a motorbike from Kampong Thom province. The bike’s owner, a woman of 42, parked in front of a clinic in Kampong Thom. She reported having seen the suspect at the crime scene around the time her bike disappeared. Later on, her son happened to spot the thief riding his mother’s bike around Phnom Penh. The police arrested him.Nokorwat

Nephew robs aunt; family nabs nephew
A 40-year-old medical worker was injured in a robbery in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district early on Monday. Police said the woman’s nephew broke into the health centre where she was working her nightshift. He searched for valuables and surprised his aunt in her sleep pointing a knife at her. She sustained an arm injury in the ensuing scuffle. Her relative fled the crime scene with her ring and mobile phone only for his own family to turn him over to police.Kampuchea Thmey

Sneaky thieves make off with cabby’s cash
Russey Keo district police in Phnom Penh are looking for two fugitives accused of stealing more than $1,200 from a taxi driver on Wednesday. The 31-year-old chauffeur from Prey Veng province was having his car repaired in front of a garage when two men on a motorbike parked nearby. Drunk teenager roams the streets with cleaver
Police arrested a drunk 17-year-old who was armed with a cleaver as he walked the streets of Sensok district on Wednesday. Police revealed the suspect was infuriated by a quarrel with his father who objected to his frequent nocturnal outings. The teen resorted to heavy drinking and taking his anger out on fellow residents. Holding a stone and a cleaver, he roamed the neighbourhood, trying to pick a fight.
